Portable Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Leading to Rapid Resolution of Pain Associated with Poorly Healing Wounds of the Lower Limbs

چکیده
Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT) has been in use for over 15 years. It has been shown to promote granulation tissue and stimulate angiogenesis thereby improving wound healing. Traditionally NPWT is bulky making it use in the outpatient setting a challenge. A portable negative pressure wound system has been developed, facilitating its use in the outpatient setting. We present 4 cases highlighting our experience with portable NPWT. Rapid resolution of pain was observed in 3⁄4 cases following the application of portable Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT). We believe portable NPWT is a valuable therapeutic option in the management of painful chronic

Superficial Burn Wound Healing with Intermittent Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Under Limited Access and Conventional Dressings
BACKGROUND Thermal injury is associated with several biochemical and histopathological alteration in tissue. Analysis of these objective parameters in research and clinical field are common to determine healing rate of burn wound. Negative pressure wound therapy has been achieved wide success in treating chronic wounds. This study determines superficial burn wound healing with intermittent n...
متن کاملEvaluation of the Effects of Adipose Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Cultured on Decellularized Amniotic Membrane in Wound Healing of Distal Part of the Limbs in Horse
Background: Equine wounds, particularly those involving the distal portion of the limbs, often undergo prolonged complex healing and may enter a non-healing state with obvious financial and welfare implications. Poor blood supply and lower levels of oxygen to the lower limbs lead to imbalance of growth factors related to wound healing. Decellular amniotic membrane has been widely used in soft t...
متن کاملTHE EFFECT OF PHENYTOIN ON HEALING OF WAR AND NON-WAR INTRACTABLE WOUNDS
Phenytoin (PHT), a drug in clinical use for over fifty years as an anticonvulsant, has heen reported to promote the healing of skin and soft tissue wounds, ulcers and second degree burns. We treated 19 patients with war-related missile wounds and 6 with chronic, non-healing (previously treated at least for.') months with antibiotics and betadine or acetic acid dressing) civilian ulcers wit...
متن کاملNegative pressure therapy (vacuum) for wound bed preparation among diabetic patients: case series.
CONTEXT Complications from diabetes mellitus affecting the lower limbs occur in 40 to 70% of such patients. Neuropathy is the main cause of ulceration and may be associated with vascular impairment. The wound evolves with necrosis and infection, and if not properly treated, amputation may be the end result. Surgical treatment is preferred in complex wounds without spontaneous healing. After deb...
متن کاملThe Role of Nitric Oxide Donors in Wound Healing in Diabetes Mellitus
Introduction: Diabetic foot ulcer is a serious complication of diabetes mellitus; it consists of lesions in the deep tissues associated with neurological disorders and peripheral vascular disease in the lower limbs. Delayed wound healing in diabetes leads to long-term hospitalization and even amputation of distal organs. Diabetes mellitus is associated with decreased nitric oxide bioavailabilit...
